DAI Discussion category: READ THIS FIRST!

Welcome to the HOPR DAO v0.2!

This is the discussion category for the DAI portion of this governance experiment. The topic is:

“How should the 168,763 DAI generated from the Balancer Liquidity Pool and the Uniswap v2 pool be used?”

This governance experiment will proceed very similarly to the v0.1 experiment, but the topic will be divided into two discussions and two votes, one for each currency (DAI and HOPR tokens).

Use this section of the forum to discuss how to spend the DAI portion of the budget only and work together to reach proposals.

GENERAL DISCUSSION

There is not fixed structure to how to discuss the topic, provided the discussion remains on topic. If you want to discuss HOPR governance separate from the topic of the experiment, please use the separate Governance category. This includes meta-discussions about the DAO experiment.

The ultimate goal is to create proposals, but not every discussion thread needs to begin with a proposal or result in one.

If you want to support a point but don’t have anything substantive to add, please use the “Like” function.

There are incentives for high quality discussion.

CREATING A PROPOSAL

When you’re ready to create a proposal, there are two options:

  1. If you are the thread creator, you can use the “Solution” function to mark a post in the thread as a proposal and bring this to the attention of the moderators.
  2. If you are not the thread creator, you can create a new thread with PROPOSAL in the title.

Once a proposal has been made, a moderator will assess it for validity.

In general a proposal is valid if it:

  • Fully addresses the discussion topic
  • Is unambiguous in its implementation
  • Doesn’t contravene any laws or regulations
  • Is in accordance with the HOPR values and manifesto
  • Is not functionally equivalent to an existing proposal

Invalid proposals will be deleted. Incomplete proposals will be marked as such, with a short explanation of what is needed to make it complete (usually there will be missing information or an ambiguity).

Once a proposal is valid, a moderator will create a duplicate in the Proposal category, linking to the original thread.

Only likes on proposals in the Proposal category will count as support towards the referendum threshold

The post creator will be deemed the author of the proposal. If you would like to assign joint authorship, you can, but other authors must be tagged in the proposal. This will be used to determine part of the incentive payouts when the experiment ends.

Once created, proposals cannot be edited. If you would like to delete a proposal you created, tag a moderator and it will be archived. An updated version can then be created if desired. In the case of multiple authors, at least 50% of the listed authors must agree to delete a proposal.
